Would you say your workday is effective and efficient?  Effectiveness is defined as accomplishing the purpose or goal of the work.  Efficiency is defined as performing in a way which has the least amount of wasted time or effort.

Many times I have heard the saying, “paper clogs the arteries of a medical office.”

Think about the amount of paper and the time spent with paper every day.   What if you need to give a copy of the chart to the patient to take to the specialist?  You would need to find the chart, take the chart apart, go to the copier and either copy the chart or fax it to the specialist.&nb

The summer after my sophomore  year I was a “brick tender,” at a large construction site.  A brick-tender’s job is to do anything and everything to keep the brick-layer productively laying bricks.   You mix mortar, carry and stack a lot bricks or cement blocks , set-up/tear-down/climb scaffolding,  fetch tools,  and get cussed at.   Early on, I marveled that no one had invented a brick laying machine.  This was 1991 after all.
