The lack of “usability” in common EHR solutions was the primary reason this author left a good paying job with a young family, committed himself to premature grey hair, and became an “entrepreneur” in the creation of simplifyMD.  Four years and more than 40 Million electronic medical records later, we think we’re on to something.

Below is a list of the most common reasons doctors and practice administrators give for not wanting to make the switch from paper to EHR software.  Do any of these sound familiar to you?:

I am retiring soon You can actually sell your practice for more money if you are paperless and on an EHR.

I don’t like to use computers, and want to keep writing on paper:  Look for a system that will allow you to continue to write on paper and then scan it back into the patient chart.

Throughout the implementation process, there are tasks and deadlines.  However, if you have the opportunity to get some hands on practicein before training, do it.  The more you practice, the better you will be when it’s time for your GO LIVE.

  1. Use your EHR vendors how-to guides
  2. Practice using tutorials
  3. View any visual materials that are available and practice doing what you saw

These are simple easy steps to making your transition mu
